Q. How do I repot a plant? My plant is too big for its current container!

To repot a plant, simply find a pot a few (2 to 4) inches larger than the current one.

In the bottom of the pot, place 2 inches or so of pebbles or stone for the drainage layer. Then, move the plant into its larger container, and fill around the root ball with dirt or whatever soil mix is best for your plant.

Typically, if a plant is root-bound, it will seem to not be growing at all.  If the plant seems to be healthy and continues to grow, leave it as is. If being root-bound does not seem to be hindering growth, leave it be.  If the plant seems to be suffering, then I suggest repotting it in a pot that is 2-4 inches greater in diameter than the current pot.
